Force Title

Science Resources For Primary School Grades

Science of FORCE

Friction - Smooth and Rough

F-1 Friction - Smooth and Rough: Soup cans are pulled over smooth and rough surfaces to explore the effect of surface roughness on friction.
Science Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Co-operating, Measuring, Inferring, Predicting, Interpreting, Controlling Variables.

F-2 Friction - Weight and Pressure: Soup cans are pulled across a surface to demonstrate that an object's weight affects the force of friction.
Science Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Seriating, Co-operating, Measuring, Inferring, Predicting, Interpreting, Controlling Variables.

Magnetic Force Fields

F-3 Magnetic Force Fields: Prove that a magnet is surrounded by a magnetic force field. Requires a bar magnet and iron powder (* we sell both, see the order information).
Science Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Co-operating, Measuring, Inferring, Interpreting, Controlling Variables.

F-4 Magnetic Attraction: Prove that a magnetic force attracts some, but not all objects. Classify objects into those that are picked up by a magnet and those that are not. Any magnet will do for experiment.
Science Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Co-operating, Hypothesizing, Inferring, Predicting, Interpreting, Controlling Variables.

Magnetic Attraction

Science Process Skills applicable to each Learning Lab depend on the way the educator presents the experiment.
