Science of

Water Title

Density

W-1 Density: Objects of different density are categorized and compared to the density of water.
Science Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Classifying, Co-operating, Inferring, Predicting, Interpreting, Controlling Variables.

W-2 Displacement: Different sized blocks of modelling clay are used to illustrate that the amount of displaced water varies with size of the immersed object.
Science Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Co-operating, Inferring, Predicting, Interpreting, Controlling Variables.

Displacement

Water Pressure

W-3 Water Pressure: A plastic bottle is pierced in 3 places; the length of the 3 water jets is measured, recorded and related to the height of water above each hole.
Science Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Co-operating, Measuring, Inferring, Predicting, Interpreting, Controlling Variables.

W-4 Surface Tension: Various substances are added to water to explore their effects on surface tension.
Science Process Skills: Observing, Communicating, Co-operating, Classifying, Inferring, Predicting, Interpreting, Controlling Variables.

Surface Tension

Science Process Skills applicable to each Learning Lab depend on the way the educator presents the experiment.
